Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"I visited this Korean restaurant and was warmly welcomed by the kind owner couple. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for authentic traditional Korean food. The pork bone soup (뼈다귀 해장국) was excellent — it had a clean, rich flavor, and I think they used Thai chili, which made it extra delicious for me, though it might be too spicy for some. All the side dishes were great, and they generously offered free refills. Every dish had a clean and well-balanced taste."
"Visiting from Auckland and saw this on review and gave it a go. We ordered the spicy pork with veges stirfry and pork bone soup. Both dish is outstanding, the pork one had a very nice char flavour that I have not had in any other korean restaurants. The soup is slightly different variation of pork bone that ive tried too, a bit less spicy and more kimchi than but it was very good also. Honestly if this restaurant was in Auckland I would have this in my top 10 of all restaurants. Side dishes are good also, funny though there was not a single trace of fish cakes. Highly recommended."
"After several satisfying takeaway experiences, we finally dined in for the first time today. The cucumber side dish was still top-notch, and the freshly made kimchi was also quite good. We started with the spicy stir-fried chicken, followed by pork bone soup—another great hangover cure! We were so busy gulping down the soup that we almost forgot to take a photo until we were already halfway through the meal. This place is definitely at the top of my list of Korean restaurants!"
"I ordered the fresh cod stew — it felt like I was back in Korea. This is truly an authentic Korean restaurant. The side dishes were refined, the flavors spot-on, and the place spotless. Prices are about $3 higher than elsewhere, but the quality more than justifies it."
"We’ve dined here several times now, and there’s no doubt they serve the best spicy pork and squid with vegetables in Christchurch—the flavour is absolutely spot on! The pork bone soup is amazing too, and these two dishes are usually our go-to orders. Not to forget the side dishes—they’re all fabulous"
"Fantastic korean restaurant that we stumbled into. Hands down the best korean food I’ve had outside of Korea, and their side dishes (esp the kimchi) are not to be missed! The couple are so warm and friendly as well."
"The Korean home-style cooking here truly reminds me of my hometown flavours. I especially love their side dishes, which you can refill for free. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience authentic Korean cuisine."
"We had a group of nine people for my birthday dinner. The man serving us was lovely. The food selection was excellent even with two vegetarians in our group. The food was delicious and everyone ate every last bite. Wonderful flavours. The cost was a huge surprise only $275 for nine of us. Amazing. Thank you very much for a lovely, relaxing evening and delicious hot food. Well done Nala Restaurant, we will be back."
